Understand how to own a firearm in Illinois.

 Join an In-Person Class

All of my classes are inclusive spaces with a specific focus on the LGBTQ community. If you are more comfortable in a queer-friendly space I encourage you to join regardless of your personal identity. Anyone who deliberately disrespects another student or makes someone to feel uncomfortable will be asked to leave and will not receive a refund.

Beginners Gun Safety & IL Law

In this class you’ll learn how to identify different types of firearms as well as how to operate and store them safely. We’ll also cover the relevant laws in Illinois, how to legally purchase a firearm, and basic emergency first-aid.

This event is located in Logan Square at a venue that is walking distance from the Western Blue Line stop. The address will be shared after registration.

No experience or prior knowledge is expected. If you’ve never even seen a gun in person before, this is the class for you!

All proceeds from the registration costs support the operations of Pink Pistols Chicago, a charitable not-for-profit registered in Illinois.

You do not need to bring anything to the class other than a pen and paper if you would like to take written notes.

Please do not bring any firearms into the classroom. If you have questions about your personal firearm we’d be happy to address them, but please do not feel the need to bring it with you.

Topics We’ll Cover:

  • Gun mechanics and operation
  • Safe operation and storage
  • Common firearm malfunctions
  • Gun purchasing logistics
  • Legality of defensive use of force
  • Justice system interactions

This class includes a small section about mental wellness as it relates to firearms and we will discuss the topic of self-harm. I will announce when this section is going to start if you need to excuse yourself during this portion of the class.
